American Notes and Pictures from Italy by Charles Dickens Handsomely Bound in Faded Blue Leather

Attractive Vintage Charles Dickens book bound in faded blue leather with gilt titles to the spine. The Book was published in the Mid Century Era 1957 and is a pleasing vintage edition of this book by the all time great of classic English Literature Mr Charles Dickens. 

The book has that wonderful 'lived and loved' look to it slightly faded round the edges and full of character and charm. The book is a bit aged and worn but in good sound condition and the illustrations are the superb engraved plates by Marcus Stone and others.

'American Notes' by Charles Dickens is the Journal of his Adventures that Charles Dickens kept as he travelled round America in 1842 this and the other book 'Pictures from Italy', are both fascinating 'Travelogs', providing a snapshot of history and the countries as Charles Dickens experienced them in the Mid 19th Century. This wonderful Vintage Book containing both 'American Notes' and 'Pictures from Italy' makes Superb reading for the Historian and Charles Dickens' fan alike. An elegant addition to your collection of the world's finest literature to be enjoyed and savoured like a fine wine. Size approximately: 7.5" inches by 5" inches.

This copy of American Notes and Pictures from Italy is an old book from the 1950's. Fresh from the Attic in Good Vintage Collectable Condition.

The leather binding is a bit faded and worn with a few small chips to the leather particularly at the top of the spine but the book is in good sound condition. A couple of tiny holes on the back board.

The body of the text is clean and pages are still quite crisp and not thumbed.

Text block is firm. Pages are clean inside slightly yellowed to a nice parchment colour. The exterior of the text block is tanned with age with a few small marks. Top of Text Block Gilt Edged. All in all a characterful book full of well loved charm. Good Reading Copy.
