Chaucer the Cat and the Animal Pilgrims Vintage Book after the Canterbury Tales.

Delightful Children's Story Book about animals on a pilgrimage to the Statue of St Francis of Assisi and the animal stories they tell to each other. This is a first Edition, First Printing of this Delightful Animal Stories book for Children published in the 1990s in pristine condition.

As in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales the stories are narrated by the animal pilgrims on their journey and it is the idea of Chaucer the cat who starts by telling a tale of his own to the other animals. They then each tell a story about their relationships with animals or humans.

The stories are based upon the classic writings of Aesop, La Fontaine and the Brothers Grimm and adapted from stories originating in Australia, Africa, North America, China, India and the West Indies there is also a story about St. Francis of Assisi who was born in the 12th century.

Each story is prefaced by a short description of each animal narrator and the place where the animals have stopped en route - the same stopping places have been used by pilgrims throughout the centuries. A very sweet idea and if you hope for your child to read the Chaucer one day a great way to fire their interest.

This is a children's classic that should not be missed!
