Set in England, the story revolves around the murder of wealthy business tycoon Aristide Leonides, who is poisoned in his own home. The investigation into his death is conducted by Charles Hayward, a former spy and the fiancé of Aristide's granddaughter.

As Charles delves deeper into the lives and secrets of the Leonides family members, he uncovers a web of deceit, resentment, and hidden motives. The family members become suspects, each with their own reasons to desire Aristide's death. The plot twists and turns as Charles races against time to uncover the truth behind the murder.

"Crooked House" is known for its complex characters and intricate plotting, typical of Agatha Christie's works. It explores themes of greed, betrayal, and the dark secrets that can lurk behind closed doors. Despite being a vintage 1980's book it is in great condition.
