Kittys Reader Notes & Book Excerpt

"Lady Bedlington, the most beautiful woman at the Court of Edward VII, is terrified when her husband suspects her of having a love affair with the handsome young Duke of Roehampton. She is also furious when she learns she has to act as chaperone to her husband's niece, an unknown girl from Ireland who has recently come into an immense fortune from an American godmother. With a cunning born of a bitter despair at the though of parting from her lover, Lady Bedlington persuades the Duke into marrying the wealthy Cornelia.

Inexperienced, unsophisticated and desperately shy, Cornelia hides her hartred of leaving the home she loves for her newly-found relations behind a pair of darkened spectacles.

How Cornealias heart is broken in the hard, glittering, golden world of Edwardian society, but how, among the demi-monde of Paris, she finds kindness, generosity and a new ecstatic happiness is told in this exciting, passionate, dramatic novel by Barbara Cartland"

Barbara Cartland, the master of romantic storytelling, weaves a captivating narrative that will leave you breathless. With her signature prose, she paints a vivid picture of the sumptuous settings, the lavish balls, and the intricate dance of emotions between the characters.
