The Masqueraders by Georgette Heyer Classic Regency Romance in a vintage Pan Paperback. First Edition thus 1965.

Classic Georgette Heyer Regency Romance and one of her greatest loved books in this charming Vintage Pan Paperback from the 1960's era. This is the first ever 'Pan' paperback edition of this thrilling romance set in Georgian London, a romping tale of a family that supported the Jacobite uprising and now have a price on their heads.  This Heyer classic was first published by William Heinemann in 1928. This super vintage book, a first printing in Pan Paperback 1965 comes to you in pristine condition for its age.

"Set in the sparkling society of Georgian London for which Miss Georgette Heyer's novels are famous, 'The Masqueraders' is a story of charming deception made necessary by the capricious politics of the age. '

Georgette Heyer's books are elegant and witty meticulously researched giving a wonderful historical insight into London society of Eighteenth Century England:

“I should find it hard to tell you…some little things and the affection for her I discovered with myself. I wondered when I saw her tip wine down her arm at my card party, I confess. My lord frowned, “Do you mean my daughter was clumsy?” “By no means, sir. But I was watching her closer than she knew.”

These lovely vintage books from an era gone by are innocent romances so don't expect a steamy read but they make wonderful escapism if you love to fantastise about Regency gowns exciting elopements and rakish gentleman coming to the rescue.

Kittys Reader Notes & Book Excerpt

"The whole of this affair,' announced my lord in an awful voice, 'is deplorable in the extreme. It has been botched and bungled in a manner passing my comprehension.....My daughter, as I understand, is riding all over the country like a hoyden with a man who has not yet obtained my consent to be affianced to her. The impropriety of it leaves me speechless.'

'Instead of which,' said Robin, inspecting the lacing on one of his great cuffs, 'she might be lying snug in prison. Horrible sir.'
