If not it's high time you did, for she is one of the brightest funniest characters that bridges a gap between fairy tale fantasy and real life with the charm and diminutive size of a fairy Mrs Pepperpot has all sorts of very human adventures that to a child seem completely understandable. An underrated classic not so commonly read these days but the Mrs Pepperpot stories are delightful.

Alf Proysen 1914 - 1970 was multi-talented. As well as writing the Mrs Pepperpot Books that we know him for he was also a talented singer, actor and radio presenter involved in 'Children's Hour' for many years. The English Translations of his books first became popular in the 1950s through to the 1970's. His sweet little children's stories show a man with an irrepressible sense of humour who delighted in amusing children with his funny quirky tales about Mrs Pepperpot, books that were destined to become everlasting favourites.
