C S Lewis "The Screwtape Letters", Letters from a Senior to a Junior Devil Vintage Paperback book.
The Screwtape Letters is probably the next most important book written by C.S. Lewis author of the Narnia Chronicles and The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. The book humorously explores the meaning of good and evil and the importance of faith through a dialogue between two devils.
"Screwtape is an experienced devil. His nephew Wormwood is at the start of his career, and has just been assigned to secure the damnation of young man who has just become a Christian. Their letters are one of C. S. Lewis' most brilliant imaginative creations and, on publication, were recognised as a milestone in the history of popular theology. "
C. S. Lewis was a devout Christian and the dialogue and story line in this wonderful book reflects his deep Christian Spirituality.
It remains an enjoyable read and insight into the character of the man himself, one of our most beloved children's authors.

Clive Staples Lewis the author of the Chronicles of Narnia (The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe) wrote a series of lesser known Christian Books as well as some classic Sci Fi.
In this humorous morality tale the older senior devil 'Screwtape', the uncle of 'Wormwood' the junior devil as he tries to corrupt a young man and turn him away from his faith and direct him towards hell.
The book has a sparkling wit and a kind of Harry Potter 'esque' ness to the way the devils communicate and the mythology that C.S. Lewis has set up around the idea of heaven and hell and the hierarchy of the devils.
The novel was written in 1942 against the backdrop of World War II. Clive Staples Lewis was originally an atheist yet whilst working as a Tutor at Magdalen College Cambridge he became deeply religious and this deep Christian belief he had for the rest of his life resonates through all his work.
