In stock
Exquisite Luxury Gift Edition of "The Tale of Jemima Puddle-duck" famous Beatrix Potter classic tale from world of Peter Rabbit. Special Centenary Edition with Gilt Edge and Slip Case. First Edition Thus 1995.
A truly beautiful and quite pristine collector's edition of this charming original Beatrix Potter story "The Tale of Jemima Puddleduck" bound in primrose yellow cloth with elaborate gilt detailing and a sweet vignette of Jemima on this luxury edition slipcase.
This book is one issued for a special edition of Beatrix potter books that started with 'The Tale of Peter Rabbit' in 1993 to mark the 100th anniversary (centenary) of Beatrix Potter writing the letter to her little friend Noel. The letter that started this classic series of children's stories by Beatrix.
This wonderful old story book tells the slightly moral tale of the rather silly Jemima the Puddle-Duck who is charmed by a mysterious 'sandy-whiskered gentleman' with a large bushy tail who quite fancies a nice supper. This doesn't sound at all like it is going to end well but perhaps her friend Kep the collie-dog might just save the day!
The Tale of Jemima Puddle-duck was first published in 1908. This is a first edition thus - first time the book appeared in this format - with the illustrations improved by electronic scanning from Beatrix's original watercolours.
A beautiful heirloom edition of this timeless children's story that is still as enchanting today as when Beatrix painted her exquisite watercolours for the story over a century ago.
All our vintage children's books ship carefully boxed and gift-wrapped for that special gift.

Excerpt from this story book "The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck":
"The gentleman raised his eyes above his newspaper and looked curiously at Jemima -
'Madam, have you lost your way?' said he. He had a long bushy tail which he was sitting upon, as the stump was somewhat damp.
Jemima thought him mighty civil and handsome. She explained that she had not lost her way but that she was trying to find a convenient dry nesting-place.
'AH! is that so? Indeed!' said the man with sandy whiskers looking curiously at Jemima. He folded up his newspaper and put it in his coat-tail pocket...
