Antique Wedding Photo Bride and Groom Victorian Cabinet Card Gorgeous Wedding Dress and Veil 1890s

Antique Victorian Wedding Photo of a Bride and Groom, the Bride in a Beautiful Victorian Wedding Dress with a stunning Antique Lace Veil and floral Headdress, her exquisite bouquet full of Lilies and trailing flowers. Cabinet Card sized Antique Photo measures approximately: 6.5" inches x 4" inches. This handsome couple have had the red carpet laid out for them and they certainly deserved it. The Gentleman Groom looks very dapper in his top hat and tails, patent leather shoes and cigar in hand! The Victorian Bride looks a dream in her typical 1890's Wedding Gown with 'Leg O' Mutton' Sleeves, long train and a beautiful antique Veil with a stunning Headdress.

The Headdress you can see was probably one of those lovely floral wreaths made of wax in the style of snowdrops that were so popular in the Victorian Era. The photo is sepia but you can just make out that the Bride's dress is not white. Interesting historically as the fashion for 'compulsory' white or cream wedding dresses did not become mainstream really until the 20th century and throughout the Victorian Era many Brides would get dressed in their best frock whatever the colour! This makes the photo quite a significant piece of fashion history.

Another nice thing about this particular photo is the fact that the couple really are handsome and look happy, so many of those Victorian Photos look quite plain and so stern! The photo was most likely taken somewhere in Yorkshire England as the Photographic Studio Address is Castleford. The Cabinet Card is signed in Gilt embossed text: E.F Walker, Castleford, J Baxter Manager.
