Kitty's Notes:
If you love vintage crime fiction and mystery novelists like Agatha Christie - Erle Stanley Gardner is a great next read with his classic crime noir books featuring hardboiled characters such as "Perry Mason" and of course classic femme fatales.
This book, 'The Case of the Queenly Contestant" is Gardner at his best and is a fun escapade full of glamour and the drama of a lawyer's life in the mid century.
Will Perry uncover the truth about the "Queenly Contestant" and her dark past. And is she guilty? Highly recommended for vintage crime fiction fans.
Book Excerpt from "The Case of the Queenly Contestant":
"The client had an extra-ordinary air of assurance about her - one could almost say a queenly air.
There was no doubt that she was in some sort of jam, which had started years ago when she had won a beauty contest. The question was, why was she trhying to hide what had happened since - and who was trying to expose it?
Perry Mason was intrigued, and soon found himself unraveling a past that led straight to a trial for murder.
Erle Stanley Gardner is the world's best-selling mystery writer for reasons this fast-paced story makes abundantly clear."
