 This super vintage Orange Penguin Paperback is a collection of lesser known stories by the master author of the all time SF masterpiece, 'The Day of the Triffids'. The Science Fiction Classic of the 20th Century first published in book form in 1961 by Michael Joseph.

A collection of some of John Wyndham's astounding Science Fiction short stories that inspired many great latter known Science Fiction writers such as Margaret Attwood.

The short story 'Consider her Ways', certainly sows the seeds of Margaret Attwood's classic 'The Handmaid's Tale.'

Themes in the book focus around time travel, dystopian societies and with subtle warnings about the danger human beings can be to themselves.

Excellent copy of an vintage paperback book now over half a century old.

Author Bio & Publication

John Wyndham was born in 1903. Until 1911 he lived in Birmingham eventually living in many parts of England.

Wyndham tried his hand at multiple careers including Farming, Law, Commercial Art and Advertising. Eventually he started writing short stories for sale. He had actually been writing for various American publications since 1930, under pseudonyms. He also wrote some lesser known detective novels.

During World War II he worked in the Civil Service and afterwards served in the Army.

He first began writing what is now known as "Science Fiction" in the 1940's.

'The Day of the Triffids' is recognised as one of his greatest Sci Fi Novels. Many of his books including the latter and others such as 'The Kraken Wakes', 'The Chrysalids', 'The Seeds of Time', 'The Midwich Cuckoos' (adapted into film as 'The Village of the Damned'), 'The Outward Urge' and the 'Trouble with Lichen' are enjoyed still today.
