"The robin sang a beautiful birthday-song while everybody arrived in procession. Every elfin, gnome and animal of the wood wished the Elfin Queen many happy returns of the day. At a nice spot in the wood, near the tree, a concert was given. It was a wood-concert. One of the biggest elfins played the harp, swayed gently on a flower-stem and sang. The crickets, the beetles, the chafers, and the moths played on various musical instruments, and everything sounded very beautiful.

A little farther up another orchestra was playing more modern music. The beetle played the drums. He did this quite well as he beat with two of his little legs on the drums with two others on the cymbals..."

Some very light tanning to a preliminary page the remainder of the text clean and bright, firm pages.

All the illustrations are fresh and beautiful.
