"Thursday is the name of a mouse who literally descends on a large family of mice which live in an organ loft cupboard. His arrival is highly unusual -- he floats in by balloon -- but this is not the only unusual thing about him -- he has escaped from a Home for Waifs and Strays (mice of course).
The family decide to adopt him and Thursday's anciety to help everyone leads him to attempt the rescue of a cuckoo from a cuckoo clock and to reform his hosts' grocery business by turning it into a supermarket -- with disastrous results. "
The lively and inventive writing of Michael Bond, the creator of a bear called Paddington, is delightfully illustrated by Daphne Rowles.
