This fabulous collection of Agatha's lesser known stories was first published by Odham's Press in 1933, a time when interest in the spiritual world was still at its peak following the wave of Psychics and Mediums that proliferated towards the end of the 19th century, supported by such famous authors as Arthur Conan Doyle who himself was a keen spiritualist. 

In this tradition the "The Last Seance" tells of a medium who comes to a sticky end and perhaps as a nod to Conan Doyle himself we have the familiarly titled "The Hound of Death".
