First Edition, First Printing of Agatha Christie's book 'Poirot's Early Cases', Published by Collins (Crime Club) in 1974 Containing Eighteen Short Stories Featuring our Favourite Belgian Detective Hercule Poirot.

This Agatha Christie first edition was released to great excitement in 1974 as it featured a previously unpublished in the United Kingdom story about Christie's marvellous Belgian Detective Hercule Poirot.

Each of the eighteen stories included in the compilation features our skilful sleuth as he manoeuvres around scandalous and dastardly deeds to get to the truth of the matter. We know with Agatha Christies Crime writing that this will be a highly entertaining read.

The publication information shows the previous 1920's and 1930's copyright dates of when the stories first appeared in periodicals.

A very good volume of this relatively hard to find book published two years before Agatha Christie's demise.

This very collectable Agatha Christie first edition has been well looked after and for a 1970's book bears up very well indeed, with just some very minor shelf wear and a mark to the inner front and back board where it looks like there was one of those little gold address labels of the previous owner, so popular in the 1970's and 1980's now removed. Visible in the fourth photo to the top right near the dust jacket.

The book has been read, as most of these very popular Christie books were, it is still a very good indeed, fresh copy that would please any avid collector of Agatha Christie's superb detective fiction. *Please review the photos and full condition notes below.

This first edition of Hercule Poirot stories would make a very satisfying gift for an Agatha Christie fan.

The book contains eighteen thrilling short stories penned by Agatha Christie entitled as follows:

  • The Affair at the Victory Ball

Kittys Notes & Book Snippet

Excerpt from the Dust Jacket:

"Eighteen short stories by Agatha Christie with one exception never previously published in England in book form, add up to a treasure trove for the Queen of Crime's millions of admirers all over the world.

All the stories feature Hercule Poirot and the cases which helped to establish the little Belgian detective's professional reputation in this country when he first came over at the end of the First World War and became involved in the scandalous affair at the Victory Ball.

The majority of the stories are narrated by the friend who in those early days played Watson to Poirot's Holmes and afford fascinating glimpses of Poirot grappling with English problems even while grappling - less successfully - with the English language.

Here then are a dozen and a half new stories about one of the best-loved detectives in fiction. The stories are vintage Christie. There is no need to say anymore. "

Definitely one to add to the bookshelf of Agatha Christie Crime Classics.

Condition Notes: VERY GOOD

VERY GOOD:

We carefully tailor all our condition notes to the actual book you see in the photographs so please read below:

This book is in very good vintage condition.

As per photos It has been price clipped and there are a couple of small marks to the inner front and back boards where small address labels were previously attached.

The dust jacket is in very good condition with just very light rubbing/fraying, around the edges, it seems the jacket on this volume was prone to some edge wear as all the copies I can see for sale are in relatively similar condition irrespective of price.

There are no previous owners inscriptions or any kind of graffiti all interior pages are bright and clean with just a little minor shelf wear to the outer text block and mild dust marks.

The tan brown binding under the attractive photographic dust jacket is in near perfect condition.

Spine Intact with gilt titles visible and no noticeable wear.

Excellent vintage collectible hardback book the only thing making me grade it as very good is the small removed label blemishes to the inner boards.

No price apparent on the jacket but this is definitely the 'Collins' dust jacket printed on the bottom of the spine.

Please remember this vintage book has been loved before and is not new condition is graded taking this into consideration.

*Vibrancy of item's photograph colours may vary due to your device screen or brightness settings.
