We meet the young Charles II shortly after his disastrous defeat at the Battle of Worcester and he embarks on a perilous journey to try to find safety. Every one of Georgette Heyer's books was carefully researched so the plot centres upon real life events giving engaging authenticity to this delightful vintage book about one of the most enigmatic historical figures in our Royal History.

They are not steamy romances but still make irresistible reading for anyone interested in the history of the era and fans of authors such as Hilary Mantel. I daresay Georgette Heyer was there first.
