A lovely fresh copy that seems to be a first edition in this format with it's scarce and attractive dust jacket featuring the foppish hero of the story, Sir Percy Blakeney. Also known as 'The Scarlet Pimpernel.

The Scarlet Pimpernel unravels a tale of a mysterious hero who defies the tyrannical reign of the guillotine. Concealed behind a clever disguise and using the moniker of the Scarlet Pimpernel, this enigmatic figure orchestrates daring rescue missions, saving innocent lives from the clutches of the merciless French authorities.

We follow the adventures of Sir Percy Blakeney, a seemingly foppish English aristocrat who hides a remarkable secret identity. By day, he assumes the role of a shallow dandy, but under the cover of darkness, he transforms into the daring Scarlet Pimpernel, an elusive figure who outwits his pursuers at every turn.

As the suspenseful narrative unfolds, we witness Sir Percy's incredible adventures, his race against time to rescue endangered French aristocrats from the grips of the Revolutionaries. His cunning and bravery are matched only by his quick wit and ability to stay one step ahead of his enemies.

This is fresh from the attic in excellent condition .

Red boards underneath the jacket fresh and bright with just slight pushing to the top of the spine.

Robust condition. Interior pages are all clean and firm just the usual slight tanning through age.

No Foxing.

No messy graffiti of any kind or name inscriptions.

Not price clipped.

The dust jacket has very minor shelf wear a tiny bit of fraying in places and a few tiny tears and a bit of scuffing to the corners (Please see photos)

Mild shelf wear overall very good indeed for this type of vintage classic book from the 1940's that usually end up jacket-less and very well loved!

Scarce Hardback of this wonderful romantic romp set in 18th Century France during the time of the French Revolution. Sir Percy masquerading as the delightfully foppish dandy is the first pre Marvel Superhero whilst in his secret persona of 'Super Hero, 'The Scarlet Pimpernel' he rescues French Aristos from the Guillotine during the darkest days of the Terror. The era that poor Marie Antoinette met her doom.

By the time you finish the novel you will be wishing for Sir Percy to come and whisk you up in his arms! The book is bound in glorious scarlet (what else!) cloth that has been kept fresh under the lovely nostalgic typical 1950's dust jacket art in excellent condition. Not price clipped with original price of 3s 6d net (3 shillings and sixpence)! No reprint date assumed first edition in this format.

If you fancy absolute froth and fantasy in 18th Century France Baroness Orczy's delightful romantic adventures are just what the doctor ordered!
