The Third Inspector Morse Omnibus by Colin Dexter, First Edition, First Impression flat signed by the Author to the Title Page.

From one of the best detective fiction authors of the 20th century, Colin Dexter, with his much loved creation "Inspector Morse", played so wonderfully by John Thaw in the classic TV adaptation. We have for sale here a very good signed copy of "The Third Inspector Morse Omnibus".

This great volume of Inspector Morse books includes three of the favourite detective novels by Colin Dexter:

  • Last Bus to Woodstock,
  • The Wench is Dead,
  • The Jewel that was Ours

This collectable modern first edition is a perfect find for a fan of the eternally favourite Inspector Morse books by Colin Dexter.

The book comes to you signed on the Title page by Colin Dexter in Blue Ink "With Every best Wish, Colin Dexter".

The Inspector Morse character was immortalised by the late John Thaw's winning portrayal of the gentleman detective with his love of opera and philosophical outlook, in the beautiful English City of Oxford with it's dreaming spires they soon became a modern classic of crime books.

Since the creation of the Sherlock Holmes classics by Arthur Conan Doyle, Poirot and Miss Marple by Agatha Christie in the golden age of detective fiction,  never has a crime novel character been so greatly enjoyed as the marvellous Inspector Morse, and of course Lewis.

First published in 1991 this modern first edition book has been read and has minor shelf wear and light straining to the front hinge but still a handsome copy for a collector of Colin Dexter books, especially as signed copies are surprisingly hard to come by.

Kittys Notes & Book Snippet

Extract from the dust jacket:
"Lewis was nobody's fool and was a man of some honesty and integrity. An engaging smile crept across Morse's mouth. He thought they would get on well together..."

"Since the publication of Colin Dexter's first novel - Last Bus to Woodstock - in 1975 Chief Inspector Morse and Sergeant Lewis have been acclaimed as crime fiction's most popular partnership. Now Last Bus to Woodstock introduces The Third Inspector Morse Omnibus, which also includes the Gold Dagger award winner, The Wench is Dead and The Jewel that was Ours: a brain teasing delight from first page to last.

In Last Bus to Woodstock the brutal murder of a young girl makes headline news in the Oxford Mail...only passion can hold the key to Sylvia Kaye's death.

The Wench is Dead opens dramatically when Inspector Morse is rushed semi-conscious to Oxford's John Radcliffe Hosplital. As he begins his recover he comes across an account of a murder committed over 200 years before...

The sudden death of an elderly American tourist in The Jewel that was ours marks the beginning of an especially complex and frustrating case for Inspector Morse...what exactly happened to Laura Stratton in Room 310..."

A lovely modern crime book for a collector of Colin Dexter's detective fiction classics.
