Vintage Children's Classic Book Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll published by Macmillan, 1948

After the delights of Lewis Carroll's classic children's book, "Alice in Wonderland" children are always excited to discover this equally charming sequel "Through the Looking Glass and What Alice found There``

This pretty edition of this very famous Alice book, is very close to the format of the first edition by Lewis Carroll, originally titled  "Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There" first published in December 1871, with all the original story and John Tenniel illustrations that made readers worldwide fall in love with the dainty little girl Alice, as she goes on her fantastical adventures in a weird and wonderful world.

A lovely tactile vintage children's book from the 1940's era, pleasingly aged with pages of nice quality paper, smooth and clean and the fifty illustrations by Tenniel are bright and fresh.

Although many other illustrators and authors have tried their hand the simple black and white line drawings and text is the iconic version of this favourite old children's book,

Published by Macmillan in 1948, this edition comes to you in lovely bright condition for its age just a little timeworn with very slight fading to the binding but still delightful, and an enchanting vintage children's story book ready to last as a favourite read and be treasured by another generation. There is a previous owners inscription neatly written, all part of this charming book's history.

Nothing can beat the charm of a beautiful old Alice in Wonderland book and this sequel, Through the Looking Glass is a great gift for anyone enchanted by Alice and her adventures likely to be read over and over again.

This favourite children's classic written by Lewis Carroll will always have a place in our hearts. Perhaps it is time to read this lovely old story to your children or grandchildren or simply buy it to enjoy yourself.

Kittys Reader Notes & Book Snippet

Quote from this book:

"In another moment Alice was through the glass, and had jumped lightly down into the looking-glass room. The very first thing she did was to look whether there was a fire blazing in the fireplace, and she was quite pleased to find that there was a real one, and blazing away as brightly as the one she left behind. "

And so began another wonderful adventure with Alice and the whimsical worlds created by Lewis Carroll for his little friend, Alice Liddell.

Even the usual world Alice lives in, is so different from the world our children grow up in today but of course this just makes this lovely old vintage children's classic all the more delightful for you and your children to enjoy.

A lovely heirloom children's classic.

Condition Notes: EXCELLENT

EXCELLENT:

We carefully tailor all our condition notes to the actual book you see in the photographs so please read below:

This is fresh from the attic in excellent vintage condition.

Firmly bound, pages clean only thing to note is a previous owner's inscription on the inside of the front board. Otherwise entirely graffiti throughout.

Pages are all very clean and firm for a 1940's book much better than usually found with mild tanning and no foxing.

Boards very good just the slightest bit of shelf wear and a hint of fading to the spine and board edges with very slight rubbing to the cloth at extremities (please see photos)

The slightest shelf wear, a little bit of dust staining to the text block and slight fading to the spine which is otherwise very good.

The book had a very slight forward lean when I acquired it but this will probably straighten out if stored correctly in a bookcase.

Overall excellent for this Alice Through the Looking Glass vintage Children's book from the 1940's that usually ends up very well loved!

Very Good Vintage collectable Lewis Carroll book.

Please remember this vintage book has been loved before and is not new condition is graded taking this into consideration.
